Overview

RMJM was commissioned in February 2005 to design a new music and performing arts centre for Stevenson College (now part of Edinburgh College) in Edinburgh.

The new two-storey building, dubbed the ‘Music Box’ houses a 120-seat multi-purpose auditorium, a recording suite, a range of rehearsal and music tutorial rooms, individual music practice booths and a dance studio.

The school encourages synergy and cross-fertilisation between activities, students and the public. As well as creating a new landmark for the College, the building and its facilities are open to the public, facilitating interaction and connections with local and regional initiatives, partnerships and developments.
