RMJM Serbia’s work on Terminal B helps secure Russia’s Sheremetyevo International Airport a 5-star Skytrax rating.

Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport has recently been given an esteemed 5-star rating by Skytrax, a leading aviation review and ratings body. Skytrax assesses the quality of passenger service within an airport, taking into account the development of infrastructure, quality of personnel and overall customer experience.

The awards ceremony took place in London on the 27th of March 2019 and saw the airports CEO, Mikhail Vasilenko, presented with a plaque to certify Sheremetyevo’s 5-star rating. Following the ceremony, Mikhail said that the rating represented a “high level of international recognition for Sheremetyevo Airport. We are grateful to Skytrax specialists, who by their recommendations contributed to our work on improving the quality of passenger service.”

The announcement comes off the back of RMJM Serbia’s work on the airport’s Terminal B, which involved a collaboration with RMJM Italia’s interior designers. Fusing 20th-century Russian Constructivism traits into a contemporary design, RMJM’s work on the terminal has helped to enhance the overall travel experience of those passing through Russia’s busiest aviation hub. The concept covers over 55,850 m² on three levels within the airport, which include a public hall, departure hall, pier, baggage claim and a retail arcade.

This prestigious recognition coincides with a time of significant expansion for the airport, with another terminal (Terminal C1) being built in the coming years, the commissioning of which is to be announced in December 2019. Sheremetyevo’s carrying capacity is also set to expand to 100 million passengers after the completion and construction of both Terminal C1 and C2, greatly enhancing the airport’s offering.

RMJM is proud to have supported Sheremetyevo International Airport and the firm looks forward to working alongside Sheremetyevo in its next stages of growth and expansion.
