RMJM’s proposal for the integrated township, Estancia, in Chennai was to create a sustainable ‘live-work’ development that will become an urban landmark and vibrant community destination. Located 35km from Chennai City and next to Vallanchery Lake, the scheme aims to maximise the site’s development potential, respect and integrate nature and serve as a catalyst for vitalising the district.
The masterplan for the 77 acre site includes four zones – I.T. SEZ, commercial, hotel and serviced apartments and residential components. Integration of these elements is achieved via the central landscaped spine and natural waterscapes that cross the project. Additionally, open and semi covered public spaces throughout the scheme encourage connection between the inhabitants and the natural environment and assist with the creation of a lively sustainable environment.
