RMJM designed the Beijing International Convention Center within Beijing Olympic Park.
The Beijing 2008 Olympic Fencing Venue was accommodated within this building complex. This was the first time that a competition sports venue was amalgamated with an Olympic Media facility. This resulted in a highly complex and challenging design exercise to ensure the smooth daily operations of both the media and sporting activities.
The Fencing competition took place over 10 days, with a total of 30 medals awarded within the venue. The venue had a spectator capacity of 6,000 people. The venue was used for Wheelchair Fencing and Boccia during the 2008 Paralympic Games.
