Overview

This new educational campus is located on the historic dockyard near Chatham Maritime in Kent. The new Universities at Medway was a unique partnership between the University of KentUniversity of GreenwichCanterbury Christchurch University and Mid-Kent College.

The Drill Hall Library sits at the heart of a master plan and houses the new library for the campus in a single 180m long clean span space with support functions and teaching classrooms housed in three connecting blocks along the north side of the building.

A series of modern insertions have been integrated into the main space which provide visual points of reference, and house information points, reception, stair cases and lifts to mezzanine study areas. Full height glazing has been introduced to the main arches opening up the interior space to the outside parade ground.
