In 2013 the telecommunications company Airtel Uganda, appointed RMJM Symbion to carry out pre & post contract designs for the refurbishment of the Airtel Head office at Wampewo Avenue.
A number of key interventions were brought to light such as: improvement of existing facades and exterior of the main block; a new public terrace over the annex block; accommodation of maximum number of staff members irrespective of departments; and the design of a new cafeteria and gym block.
Symbion’s design philosophy integrates a sense of appreciation for the strong structural aesthetic, together with creating interactive and boldly branded corporate spaces.
This is portrayed by the design for a large new reception atrium, bright brand colour highlights, and the configuration of spaces.
Materials proposed will reinforce the contemporary feel of the interiors. Polished marble and non-slip porcelain tile floors, frameless glass to aid transparency, crisp plasterboard ceilings and MDF veneers to tie in with new furniture.
