University of Oxford, Henry Wellcome Building for Gene Function, England
The Henry Welcome Building for Gene Function is a new scientific facility of world stature. It brings together existing groups of scientists and aims to recruit new groups to Oxford who are skilled in the latest techniques in Genetics and Physiology and aims is to integrate these disciplines with bioinformatics in an environment that encourages the cross-fertilisation of ideas.
RMJM was commissioned to design the building leading to a successful bid from Joint Infrastructure Funding. The first phase of building is a new 3,000m² laboratory building and the second phase, doubled the size of the building.
This project won the 2005 Civic Trust Awards Mention.
