University of Kent at Medway, England
This new educational campus is located on the historic dockyard at near Chatham Maritime in Kent. The new "Universities at Medway" is a unique partnership between the University of Kent, University of Greenwich, Canterbury Christchurch University and Mid-Kent College, and aims to increase student numbers in Medway to more than 10,000 by 2012.
The first phase to be completed as part of this masterplan is the £7.5 million state-of-the art building for students of Sport Health & Fitness and Music Technology. This brass-clad building acts as a landmark, announcing the arrival of the University of Kent at Medway and was the first completed building on the joint campus.
This project won the 2008 Civic Trust Award and the 2006 Medway Design Awards: Design of New Buildings & Development Control Awards
