Tower Ekaterinburg, Russia
In May 2008, RMJM's London team won an international competition to design 'Tower Ekaterinburg' - which will form the heart of a new arts, cultural and sports quarter on the banks of the River Iset in the Russian city of Ekaterinburg.
The proposed development, on behalf of the Red Group, will not only provide the city with 46,000m² of serviced apartments, a retail arcade and an international standard, five star hotel but also the world's first vertical park which will run through the core of the proposed building. The park is designed for the year-round enjoyment of the general public as well as those who live and work in the building and a public sky park at the top will offer panoramic views across the city. The arched form of the proposed 130 metre structure echoes the poetic curves of the city's Byzantine Temple of Blood.
