Olympic Accredited Hotels Beijing Beichen, China
RMJM was commissioned by North Star Beijing Group to design the five-star Intercontinental Beijing Beichen on Beijing's Olympic Boulevard, which aims to combine the best of the modern world with the age-old traditions of the Orient. Completed in time for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 40,000m² hotel is connected via a bridge to the National Convention Centre, also designed by RMJM in an abstract form of a traditional pagoda. The 18 storey steel and glass hotel boasts 420 rooms of various sizes, as well as extensive leisure and business facilities. The hotel's landscaping includes numerous water features to give guests a restful experience in the heart of the city.
RMJM also designed the nearby 443 bed four star hotel, the China National Convention Center Grand Hotel, two office blocks and a retail mall in a fully integrated masterplan to support the Convention Centre's commercial goals.
