Maryhill Locks, Scotland

Strata was commissioned to prepare the urban design framework and strategic landscape masterplan for the historic Maryhill Locks site in Glasgow in 2006. The site is part of a broader canals strategy which identifies the historic locks as a potential visitor destination and includes the masterplanning of a large-scale mixed use and residential development.

The core of the masterplan focuses on the creation of a unique parkland destination surrounding the series of five canal basins as a centre piece to the proposed built development. Key commercial, civic and residential development informs and activates key public spaces which vary in character and use throughout the masterplan.
