Huawei Research and Development Park, China
The Huawei Research and Development Park incorporates offices, laboratories, a data center and civic plaza and is located to the south of Nanjing, one of the four great ancient capitals of China. The design incorporates a simple, orthoganally arranged architectural composition, with the focus on the sustainable performance and technical aspects of the scheme.
The masterplanning of the site has a synergy with the relationship between the history of Nanjing, the nearby Purple Mountain and the tranquility of the Yangtze River. Integral to the scheme is the integration of the natural typography of the surrounding hills and valleys, with the landscaping being brought through the scheme, blurring the edges between the built and soft environment.
