Firmenich Research and Development Center, USA
The 9,850m² Research and Development Center houses both laboratory and office space for the perfumes division of Geneva-based Firmenich.
The building houses specialised labs, in addition to climatic chambers simulating 'real world' scenarios for product testing. A special air filtration system allows air to go through the building once assuring that the perfumers can test each fragrance in an absolutely odor-free environment.
RMJM architects designed a four-storey building which forms an entry court with the existing administration building - framing views of the campus' extensive landscaping. The design uses different shapes, colours and scales to fit comfortably into the existing campus.
