Child Health Institute of New Jersey, USA
RMJM's initial concept design for the Child Health Institute formed part of a campaign to secure funding from the National Institute of Health for a new research facility in New Brunswick.
The RMJM-designed six-storey, 14,000m² centre is located at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. It houses paediatric research and clinical care facilities and faculty offices, arranged so as to ensure patient privacy and support medical education.
Recognised for both its innovative design and community connection, the facility won two awards in 2006 – a 'Citation of Merit' from Healthcare Design Magazine, and a 'New Good Neighbor Award' from the New Jersey Business & Industry Association.
