Cancer Institute of New Jersey, USA

RMJM's designs for the expansion of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey's building provided 13,300m² additional space for clinical research and patient care.

As well as the new medical facilities, the RMJM team created new spaces designed to promote healing, including roof gardens and terraces. A new forecourt and increased car-parking provision made more effective use of the available external space and improved services for patients.

The six-storey addition references many of the themes, materials and decorative elements of the original building and the two buildings are linked by a double-height entrance and sculptural metal canopy which shelters the drop-off area.
