Designed by RMJM and Moore Ruble Yudell, the French Family Science Centre—a 25,500 m² multidisciplinary science facility at Duke University—includes teaching and research space for the Biology, Chemistry and Physics departments as well as state-of the-art research and collections greenhouses.

Connected with the existing Biology and Physics buildings, the new facility helps Duke meet its ambitious teaching and research goals by supporting new strategic initiatives, including Genomics, Nanoscience and Global Change, providing high-quality laboratory space for the natural sciences, first-rate undergraduate teaching facilities, and flexible laboratories that can easily accommodate changing trends and requirements.

With inter-departmental collaboration and communication a top priority, faculty and graduate offices are adjacent to the labs, providing easy access and communication. A central atrium further connects the building’s research, teaching, office and support spaces with communal spaces and conference rooms, seminar rooms, student lounges, a café and auditorium.
